The volunteers who manage our Scheme are called Trustees. They are also directors of the company Home-Start Uttlesford.
They will have all sorts of skills including:
- general business management
- financial and legal expertise
- IT knowledge
- human resources experience
- PR & media skills
- fundraising experience
- knowledge of safeguarding
Trustees also receive any necessary training they need to assist them with their role with Home-Start.
We generally have 10 Trustees representing the areas of experience named above. We are always open to recruiting additional members who would be able and keen to share in our work. For a list of current trustees, click here.
There are 6 meetings a year, including the AGM. In addition, trustees are responsible either individually or in groups for looking after their area of expertise. All trustees assist with raising funds.
The Board of Trustees approve policies, make financial decisions, ensure compliance with legislation and are responsible for quality assurance. They are assisted and supported by Home-Start UK with training and advice.
The Chair is appointed for a term of three years. Whereas a re-election is possible, the Board have agreed that the Chair’s post should be time-limited.
