Thank you everyone who came to this lovely event in February. We raised over £300 in the raffle and are very grateful to SWSO who gave us the opportunity to raise our profile at such an entertaining afternoon of music from the cinema.
Kevin Moll, Henry Rowe and the staff at Kevin Henry have raised funds for us during the year 2015. They have held cake sales, a quiz, a cyclathon, and a month of donations in August for every house they were instructed to sell. Altogether they have raised over £4,000 for Home-Start Uttlesford and we are so grateful for their generosity.
In particular, Kevin Henry agents left some of our literature in every house sold. Apart from raising our profile in the local area, this has led to a volunteer contacting us and giving time to help families in Uttlesford.
Our thanks go to Kevin Henry for this productive and happy liaison between a local business and a local charity.
AND SOME EVEN BETTER NEWS! KEVIN HENRY STAFF HAVE NOMINATED US AS THEIR CHARITY OF THE YEAR FOR 2016 TOO!
The volunteers of the family charity, Home-Start Uttlesford were treated to an end of year celebration at Spains Hall in Finchingfield, the majestic home of their patron Lady Rosemary Ruggles-Brise.
A wonderful morning was enjoyed with Sir Tim Ruggles-Brise giving an informative talk on the history of Spains Hall, a country estate dating back nearly 1000 years which has been home to the Ruggles-Brise family for 250 years. The Estate comprises of 2000 acres, the magnificent 15th century Spains Hall itself, the Stables complex, various farm buildings and holiday cottages, all of which have been sympathetically restored in recent times to provide first-class facilities for weddings and functions.
The team of hardworking Home-Start volunteers had the chance to relax and catch up with each other, whilst enjoying a tour of the house, a glass of warm mulled cider and a light lunch. A truly special day for some truly special people who are pictured below.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, trustee or ambassador of Home-Start Uttlesford, please get in touch on 01799 520728 and why not take a look at Spains Hall if you’ve a wedding or corporate event to organise. It really is the most idyllic country setting and you can find further information at their website, www.spainshall.co.uk.
A very big Thank You to our wonderful Christmas Lunch Team. The event was a huge success; a delightful venue (Manuden’s beautiful new Village Hall), delicious food, a great turn-out and a wonderful festive atmosphere. It was clear how much work had gone into the preparation and making sure that everything ran smoothly.
We raised £5,318.60 on the day a truly amazing total and this alone amounts to over 5% of the total income of Home-Start Uttlesford.
